I think what you are doing is a great idea. I look forward to seeing what results you all have. I have had the odd thing from Sarah Raven and they are a bit more costly as is Crocus. Crocus have good quality plants but now seem to only send out 9cm pots whereas in the beginning they sent out larger plants. Such a nuisance this time of the year if you do not have a greenhouse. I have used Hayloft Plants and find them reasonable value as although small they sell in threes and the postage is always kept lowish. Assume your 190% discount is from GW mag. Very useful.

    Good luck everyone

    Thanks Bel.

I found the code online rather than the GW mag. Always worth looking for them as they can make quite a difference.

Really looking forwards to our first little trial!

  • I'll join in if I've not missed the start date?

It's a nice plant you've chosen, seen it at the shows and admired it. Thought I might as well buy it as notimage

Never ordered from Sarah Raven before, the discount code still works if anyone else interestedimage

The more the merrier Victoria Sponge! Brilliant!

I like the idea of the silvery foliage. I bet I kill mine within the first month though!!

oooh, it must be a good 'un if it's been at shows. Can't wait!

Mines just arrived.... image looks healthy and a good root system without being pot bound. Looking forward to seeing how it develops

So has mine Sophie17! Exciting! What do you think of it?

Feedback then - packaging, really good. Sturdy, easy to open, soil kept moist and recyclable. Handy plastic tray inside that I will re-use in the greenhouse.

Plant: looks very healthy. No leaf damage, good clear label, great roots poking out of the bottom. Darker in colour than I thought albeit that's an observation and not a criticism. Plenty of young growth on it.

Other: handy nicely presented planting instructions booklet. Includes info on other plants so will be a nice little read.

I think I'll be popping mine in the greenhouse for a little while to acclimatise and allow for the frosts to pass before I plant it in the ground.

So far so good. Not bad value for money with the discount. Very pleased!

You have slightly more roots out the bottom than I did but otherwise they could be twins. The booklet is indeed very handy and I've kept it to refer back to. I don't have a greenhouse anymore so I've put it straight in the bed...in the last few weeks my max/min thermometer hasn't gone below -1 so fingers crossed it'll be ok. I was impressed with the packaging too I'd ordered another plant at the same time and both were housed really well. I've only ever had mail order plants once before, 2 roses and the pots were put in a massive cardboard box with no "padding" needless to say when they arrived I had twigs soil and leaves and 2 empty pots and a fair bit of hassle to get them refunded. That being said this delivery has restored my faith in mail order plants, it seems a lot of thought has gone into the packaging and how best to get the plants to your door in the same manner they left.
