Protection of new seeds from the birds

For the first time, )I've usually used plug plants etc in the past), I'm going to try seeds this year.  Cornflower, a meadow mix and wild red poppies.  When I sew the seeds, how do I keep the birds from getting them?

    You could try horticultural fleeseimage

Ah right.  I wondered about fleece.  How long would you leave the fleece on for and does the rain get through it thus keeping them watered?  Maybe until germination is expected?

Assuming you will be sowing the seed once the soil is warmer as long as the soil is moist when you rake the seeds in there should be no problem with germination whether or not you cover the area.  The moisture already in the soil will be enough.
