Adding a thread in 'my posts'

I am sure you clever people will clarify this. Is there any way of saving a post in 'my messages' without having added to the thread? Sometimes there is information that I want to keep and the only way I know how, is to respond, knowing that it will go to my messages.

What I do on this and other boards, is add to the thread typing

' Snagging'

and then post it which will add it to 'My Posts'.

Think that's fairly accepted practice (snagging meaning to catch a thread (of clothing etc) on something

You could also save the particular page you want on your own laptop/computer facility ie 'favourites' or 'bookmarks', depending on what you use. I do it with route reports on the walking site I use, and here I kept the one with obelixx's ginger cake recipe
