Sequestrene substitute

My local garden centre tells me that they cannot get Sequestrene any longer. I cannot find any on line either. Does anyone know why it has been discontinued? Also what suitable alternatives are there?

  • Tim, look for "sequestered Iron plant food".  Sequestrene is just a brand name for the same thing (a soluble food containing Iron often used for feeding acid-loving plants.)

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Not sure if it can be used as a substitute, but Iron sulphate is widely available, usually used on lawns.

  • Thanks everyone. That is a great help.
