Lawn gone bad.

Grass has always been 'gert lush' but it’s 'gone bad' this year. No major change in conditions. Any ideas?

  • Probably cranefly larvae (leatherjacket) damage.  Nothing you can do right now to kill them, but if you water in nematodes in the autumn you will prevent the problem next year.

If you re-seed the damaged areas, it will soon green-up again but you need to 'keep off the grass' until the new grass is established.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • The little buggers.

    Thanks Bob.

Sorry to butt in but it looks similar to my problem grass. I've just over-sown but if it doesn't work I'll investigate your worms.
