  • I found Tommy Toe on Plant World Seeds website last night, here's a link if anyone's interested.

If you do grow it and like it, just save some seed on kitchen paper on your windowsill and once dried pick them off and put in a plastic re-sealable bag. It will keep very well for a good number of years.

  • Michael mpc : Try ILDI for the children, they're lovely, just like little yellow sweets. Dead easy to grow and the trusses are huge. They keep well too.

  • I grow Chadwick Cherry and Yellow Pear again this year (from the Organic Gardening Catalogue). What I am really excited about are my Bulgarian tomatoes. I found this Bulgarian lady with an appetite for plants and organic gardening. I bought some tomato seeds from her and the seedlings do look great. The varieties I bought are Tigarella, Pepper Tomatoes, and Madeta. Especially the last one makes me very curious...

Interested to learn that Tommy Toe is an Aussi version of Gardeners Delight

I have been growing and saving seed of Tigerella for years but I believe that mine won't really be true Tigerella by now!

They look and taste good to me lol

  • I like Eva Purple Ball myself and Garden Peach tomato, a bit of work but Garden Peach is worth it.
  • My favourite is black cherry (from Pennards at Malvern Show maybe other suppliers too). Very reliable cropper with few greenback etc. I grow in bags in a cold greenhouse- very flavoursome with a good sweet acid balance.

Another I grow is Golden Boy. This is a yellow -orange beefsteak with fruits 8oz+ Very tasty if slightly acidic. I find it grows best direct in soil in a greenhouse otherwise I get end rot- probably my inconsistant watering! I came across this by accident. A packet of Golden Sunrise (probably Suttons) produced large beefsteak type tomatoes. Suttons blamed the growing season and denied existence of this type of tomato. I used the seed for several years eventually saving my own for continuance. Later I found this veriety from Dobies (a sister compny of Suttons!) but it disappeared again and I now get from Franchi
