Can I move plants this weekend

  • So mild in London over the entire winter, that all my jasmine is in full flower and my ceanothus is about to burst into flower too. At this rate I won't get much flowering in actual spring!

As others more experienced than me have said Angela, best to wait until frost risk has passed, so it all depends on where you live.

  • You don't say whereabouts you are.  I moved a lot of stuff this weekend - the soil is easily workable and full of worms and the frosts overnight clear quickly in the sunshine here.  It's getting a big rootball that is important with shrubs.

By the way, if you are moving roses be aware not to replant them where you've grown roses in the past, as they can suffer from rose sickness (unless you are prepared to remove tons of soil and replace with fresh).
