Crinum Powellii
I recently bought a crinum bulb and its huge, its a good 1ft long. I cant decide whether to put in the ground or a pot. The leaves look quite ugly in my opinion looking at pictures. So leaning more towards growing it in a pot but what size? Do they like being pot bound or big pot ? I can also move it to full sun nearly all day in a pot.
Any more tips on growing crinum

I've got one in a pot. I can't decide where to plant it.
Grow it as you would an agapanthus. Fairly snug, ( no plant likes being "potbound" ) and give it as much sun as you can and feed with tomato food .
I was think of potting up like a agapanthus nice and snug. I have read they resent being moved, It wouldnt be long before I change my mind if I planted it in the garden
I had a clump of the white form in a previous garden. It was a freeby from someone who didn't want it.
The clump was so big it took two of us almost an hour to get it out, very roughly too, and it survived happily enough.
Thanks Hosta, I will have to find a pot for it.
