Magnolia stellata

Just bought a magnolia stellata in lidl' s for £4.99 . It looks like a healthy specimen.(other varieties there if anyone's interested)

What is the best position for it? Apparently it is ok in full or partial sun, but which would be best? Does it mind baking in the summer ( south or east facing) or would it be better facing west in the dampish bit?

In London. Keen but lazy.
