for fresh plants yes. All the nutrients will have vanished from last years plants growing in it.

No need to repot existing plants, but they might benefit from a top up.

    Devon.

I keep old compost, some goes on the compost heap, the stuff with roots, but the rest is bagged up and is now used to start off begonia corms and dahlias.

mixed with a bit of perlite is now being used for my seed germination.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

I generally tip it on the beds to improve the soil.  Roots om the compost heap.  It could be reused but will have become depleted in nutrients and could have picked up pests and pathogens.

I chuck old compost on flower beds and let the worms get on with the hard work. Improves structure of heavy clay. I put finished plants and any attached soil on compost heap

    In London. Keen but lazy.
