There's an old wooden gatepost by the roadside, near where I live, that has a tussock of wiry grass growing on top. Someone drew a face on one side, later he acquired a scarf. A hat was tried, but that nearly killed the grass and has not been repeated. At Christmas he gets decorated with tinsel. When I pass his smiley face on a dark night I know I am nearly home
Tetley - I had to stop on the way back to work yesterday (temp traffic lights) and it was next to a house with a huge tree at the driveway. On a little 'hole' on the trunk, there was a small fern growing away quite happily on some moss that had gathered there. I thought of you and Bert!
