I don't like New Horizon Hosta, Wyvale is cheaper at the moment with 4@ 20.00.
Years ago, my mum used to use Levingtons, the one for trade, could only get it from one little nursery as he ordered it for himself, her baskets were absolutely beautiful, all from seeds.
its not as good now, I don't use it.

Unfortunaly since Peat is not normally used in seed and potting composts the quality has dropped, I never understood why people used peat directly onto gardens that was a waste, but for container plants it was the best, though I use a 70/30 mix of good garden soil to my own garden compost for ground containers, also for planting seed runner beans in pots to plant out in the garden whne the fear of frost is over, not happy with what I see as peat alternatives.

See that wickes own brand is 4x70L for £15 believe peat based I wonder who actually makes it !
It was ok a few years ago but last time I tried it, it was c##p. I think these places source whatever's cheapest year on year
Could be worth a try that Jeff. You can always mix a little bone meal in, not for seeds or first potting up though.
