Proper name is Phytolacca american and those berries are poisonous.

I saw one a couple of weeks ago and wondered what it was too!
It really is strange nola!! I'm looking on the internet to see if I can get some seeds - no luck so far......
Highly poisonous - don't grow this if your garden is visited by children!
