Can anyone tell me the right way to prune a grape vine?

Don't prune it till jan feb. we cut ours hard back and it is ladened this year!!!! Then just cut the unruley ones back!!!
Thanks Stacey.I will give it a try. i thought that maybe you sould leave several buds on it from the previous years growth.
