Escallonia replacement

Well our poor Escallonia is suffering even more from leaf spot. I've decided it is best to rip out and replace. Looking for suggestions for an evergreen shrub, with interesting leaf colour and some blossom/flowers (ideally golden/silver foliage as it's beside a Cotoneaster, and mid/deep green will just get lost). Already have a Choisya, so that's ruled out.

Love the idea of Holly, I don't know why I hadn't considered that. We don't have any currently, and the berries look great, plus we can take a few cuttings for the Xmas mantelpiece.
