Pruning ivy

B3B3 Posts: 27,503

Had to leave it alone last year as a blackbird was nesting.  It's looking awful dishevilled ( how do you spell that?) And a blackbird is nosing around again.

 When can I prune it?

Small birds like nesting in ivy.  And it produces late nectar for the bees in September and even October.  And once it's a few years old it'll produce berries as well.

It's very old and was full of berries. Most of them have been eaten now , Steve
