New fence next to tree

Hi, I wonder if someone could advise. We have a large tree in the garden, on the boundary, we want to put up a fence but tree roots are in the way, someone suggested strapping the fence post to the tree, has anyone else got this problem or know anything about suitable straps for the job. Thanks for any advice.
