SPRING IS HERE "officially" IN CORNWALL

VerdunVerdun Posts: 23,348

magnolias flowering in numbers down here signal that spring has arrived in Cornwall.  The earliest they have ever flowered.  Caerhays Castle, famous for  magnolias, has today declared Cornwall is open for the spring...spring has come today. image

Must admit today at times has felt like that  image

  • Just as well we're holidaying in Cornwall earlier than usual this year, otherwise there'd be nothing left to see ... well, flowers that is image

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • Hi Verdun it feels like spring today here in Derbyshire but we are not so advanced as you however we have Grape Hyacinths in flower.

Also some flowering blossom is breaking out a month early.

Looking at my lawns today they are so long it looks like firing up the mower shortly. My Magnolia buds are all furry ready to burst so I am hoping its cold

enough to hold them back a while.

I don't really start gardening outside here till March but who knows this year..

We've got magnolias out in Sunny Surrey .....but with frosts forecast all week they will be brown mush by the weekendimage

  • Crocus blooms poking out up here in Scotland. A few Snowdrops also. Bushes are all starting to bud. It's not Spring though, just a prelude to our second Winter.
