You say loofah I say luffa . . . .

I'm trying for the second year growing luffa or loofah in the greenhouse.  Some people look at me as if I'm bonkers when I mention it wrongly assuming they grow in the sea.  For the uninformed they grow as a vine and prefer a hot and lengthy season,  something we are clearly lacking here, but last year I did manage to get a couple of mature fruits and have plants this year from the seed produced.  I've passed most on but retained one vine.  I'll heat the greenhouse when necessary and see how it goes.

What I'm really writing about is the behaviour of a solitary common wasp who has adopted the plant and appears to be systematically grazing it.  It seems to be most interested in the niche where a flower bud comes out from the stem.  Any thoughts?
