Delphiniums

I think I planted my delphiniums too early (late September), to try and get a march so that they would flower this year.  They were coming on fine until the storms arrived and I took them into the greenhouse (I had them in pots).  About a week ago all the foliage on all of them suddenly went limp and all the leaves are dropping, although some of them are starting to sprout from the middle.  I was heating the greenhouse and wondered if they got too hot and wilted, or just going dormant.  Not grown them before so going a bit blind (not literally).  Any suggestions.

    Hi Patricia.

Delphiniums are hardy and therefore don't need heat, or a greenhouse for that matter. Check for slug damage at the base as delphiniums are a particular fave of theirs.

I'd not worry, plenty of time for them to spring back.

  • I have just sewn some Delphinium seeds, and put them in the window sill... too early? too late?

Better put a cushion on it, you may be there for some time. image
