e-mail warning
in Talkback
Thought I would give you all a warning. Opened e-mail yesterday Suttons Seeds, am a customer already. Went to log on to my account, put in my e-mail address , then was going to log-on to PayPal came up big warning sign saying XSS trying to attack, spoke to computer whizz kid son, who checked, said this cyber attacking (whoever!!!) had started last year, putting viruses etc. obtaining passwords, so always a possibility they could access Palpal. I rang Suttons Customer Service, just gone 5, no-one there, left a message and also on their Facebook account.

I dont think the e-mail from Suttons is fake, its just been "got at", no;one son has set up so much security I cant even open "normal" e-mails without a right old rigmarole. The problem came to light when I tried to open Paypal to pay. He has set up 3 different types of security and regular auto scanning.
I had a similar thing with the title paypal saying I owe them money, well that's funny because I don't have an account with them, so if you see an email like that, then just delete it
You can normally identify dodgy emails because they refer to you as something like "Dear customer" rather than using your name. Also, if you hover over a link the bottom of the screen will tell you where it is really going to take you, which is not where it claims to be.
But for simplicity, simply never click on a link in an email, go via your bookmarks.
Forward any dodgy emails back to [email protected].
They are very good at dealing with these. Forwarding does not need the email to be opened. then delete it.
One from Ebay goes to [email protected]
Amazon goes to [email protected]
Thanks Berghill that's good to know
.
I have an Virgin email address, need it for Virgin account, well Virgin took it in house end of last year from some other lot!
As soon as it changed I immediately started getting 6 to 10 evil spoofs every day, none of which I have opened, they are down to 3 or 4 a week now!
( your paypal account is suspended, your bank account is closed, tax refund enclosed, you have won 100 million euros, plus lots more)
I would bet that 100 million euros that it is administrated from India!
When I phoned, you cannot e-mail them, the liars denied any knowledge of any problems with their e-mail account!
No; one Son said to me go direct to the company I want to buy for on-line, I have to anyway, with the security he has set up, I cannot click on the e-mails "direct" if that makes sense. He actually said to me yesterday, to ring up and buy, (never thought I would hear HIM say that!) I said last week I was a Luddite and proud of it, yesterday he was talking to his youngest sister and her bloke, (they are all gamers) viertual reality, 3D (Yup, I DO know what they are) but most of their "techno speak" was sooooh far above my head, the space station was in danger!!! Apologies, this WAS gardening related, HONEST, started with me intending to buy onion and garlic sets!
