crocus and grey squirrels !

Here in Scotland my crocus bulbs were just on the point of flowering when I saw a grey squirrel eating the new shoots. On closer inspection most of the crocus have been demolished. Squirrels did this a few years ago and hadn't been bothered since then apart from yesterday. Does anyone have any tips to stop this destruction please?

I'll follow this, last year my crocus were all flowering and the squirrels bit off the heads of every flower and wrecked the lot.  This year I'm thinking as we had a bumper crop of acorns they have left them alone so far.  Or that is what I'm hoping image
