Yes there is. Many (most?) major photographic competitions these days want to see the 'RAW' image i.e. the digital equivalent of the negative. In the early days of digital photography too many judging panels were embarrassed when they did discover that many winning images were in fact either composite or had been heavily edited to remove unwanted items.
