wrong time of year

Which well known flowers can be sown as seed in the autumn - I planted hollyhocks, geum and teasel which have all grown really well over the months of November - February - are there any other well known plants that are easy to grow from seed beginning in the autumn?

Loads of them. I tend to sow everything fresh, some plants need that, others grow whenever you sow them.

some things need the winter cold to break dormancy, a lot of hardy trees and shrubs and anything in the Ranunculaceae, and Apiaceae families seem to like trhat

  • Thanks nutcutlet - I have tried hydrangea and blackcurrants but I don't want to disturb them too soon although there are no roots showing through the bottom of the plant pot yet.
