Lawn Edging Options

Hi folks,

Not a problem as such so apologies if this is in the wrong section of the forum.

I'm looking for suggestions for suitable materials to edge the lawn with that will keep the bark chippings in the flower beds. Currently the birdlife - blackbirds in particular - seem to enjoy firing the chippings all over the lawn. I rake it back in but they love nothing more than a newly raked area to ply their trade once more! The lawn is really suffering in these areas.

It's only a short run - about 10m - but curved. I've used log roll in the past but this rots away. Appreciate any proposals.

Thanks!

I also have concrete edging.I had the problem of the lawn edge drying out and cracking and crumbling away (on clay). It also means I can have the soil level higher in the bed as I don't have to keep lawn and garden seperate.Had it several years and it has been a great improvement.

Thanks for the suggestions. I like the idea of a lavender border as this will be easier to mow up against rather than to have to get the strummer out against a hard border. My only reservation is that it would look a bit too 'uniform'?

In the USA they have loads of fantastic edging, here the choice is very poor and there are a lot of tacky looking products out there. I'd like a professionally installed brick mowing strip put in but I can't afford it right now image So I'm just continuing with lawn edging with a half moon lawn edger.

Everedge steel lawn edging is very good. Ive got some but haven't installed it yet. Mine are plain steel but they are available in different colours.
