Gosh! I'm sorry if I offended.

For the record, my dictionary has luddite as "people not particularly interested in technology". It doesn't say that this is a perjorative or offensive term; it's a factual description. Other dictionaries may vary.

But Luddite (note the capital L) refers to the 1800 rebellion (I didn't know it was from Nottinghamshire - you learn something new every day) and calling someone a Luddite (capital L) can be considered offensive. I didn't use a capital L. I didn't intend to offend.

Hope this helps and we can get back to gardens.

My name is Ann and I am a Luddite, we lived in such a ridiculous throw away society.  You buy a TV, phone whatever, within a couple of years, its obsolete.   I am horrified when I see what folk throw away at our local tip.  Me, upcycling and shabby-chic!

As luck would have it, I acquired a max/min thermometer today. Now to find a sunny position on a south facing wall image

Fishy65, be carefull, you may overload it in such a situation!  Edd I love you!  Hubby made me a sort of Aurricular Theatre last year, it get so hot in the greenhouses, March, taking out hanging baskets etc. can put them all on the shelves together, (hanging wire at the top) easy to put away at night.  Two mangers I use for salad leaves, all next to greenhouse, raised veg plot made from scaffold boards, and he made compost bins from palletts.  Hoping this counts under greenhouse thermometers, because looking at my min/max (cheap white plastic one) tells me the plants need to go outside in the days!

it didn't cost  70.00 did it fishy, imageI wouldn't be growing anything in my green house to warrant that sort of money. Just wait for the weather to warm up then you know the temp will be ok in the greenhouse.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  • Funnily enough I don't use my weather station in the greenhouse - for that I use a cheap max/min thermometer from wilko. image  My weather station is primarily for my other hobby, astrophotography. image  With just 4 clear nights since Christmas, I'll use anything I can to try and catch one or 20,000 pounds worth of equipment just sits there laughing at me!  image  Wrong country for astronomy I fear!

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
