Thanks both! Must be a flowering type only - never seen any fruit (but there are a zillion squirrels and pigeons living there so they may all simply be eaten before they are ripe!)
We had some similar to those where I used to work - the wood pigeons took the cherry-like fruit while they were still green and swelling.
From memory they produced black plum like fruit back in late summer
Black plum like, that's not hawthorn/may blossom
that's sloes or plum/damson
