  • Thanks both!  Must be a flowering type only - never seen any fruit (but there are a zillion squirrels and pigeons living there so they may all simply be eaten before they are ripe!)

    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • We had some similar to those where I used to work - the wood pigeons took the cherry-like fruit while they were still green and swelling.

    From memory they produced black plum like fruit back in late summer

    Everyone is just trying to be Happy.....So lets help Them.

    Black plum like, that's not hawthorn/may blossom

    that's sloes or plum/damson
