Sasa bamboo

Hi
Impulse bought a sasa bamboo which looked beautiful and seemed like a bargain at 50% off.
Have since seen that it is a running bamboo, and am a bit scared to plant it.
Was thinking of buying a 5m length of bamboo root barrier to keep it contained.
Has anyone any experience of this plant and using the root barrier method of keeping it under control.

I'm happy with most bamboos, but not this one. I'd avoid planting in ground.
