An egg in my balcony trough
in Talkback
I have been way fr a couple f weeks. In one of my balcony troughs I have been growing sugar snap peas. The leaves have become bushy and some dry since being Away. I moved some and there was an egg. What should I do with it? The weather hasn't been too hot for a few days

Do you know what kind of egg Jane? It's probably fallen there from a nest so probably not much you can do
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
It's likely to have been laid by a young collared dove or a city pigeon - they're inexperienced can be a bit careless where they lay their eggs. Smaller than a golf-ball and white? Put it in the bin.

Yes it's smaller than a golf ball and white. I think it must be a pigeon as my neighbours have bird feeders. I'm on a balcony and I have had some of the feeing birds around. They even tried to build a nest on my doorstep. Thanks for your help. I'll bin it as I doubt if it will hatch.
