I recently harvested my garlic. The bulbs have grown to about pin-pong ball size but are solid rather than separate cloves. They were planted in the ground on 16th January so had a good period of cold weather! ( I understand they need this). Does anyone have any idea why this has happened.

I got that once when I bought a bargain corner pot of something labelled garlic at the end of the planting season.
I never did discover if they were garlic and, if so, why they were like that but they certainly tasted of garlic and it made the job of peeling fantastically easy!
