Auntyrach .......I was of the understanding that lupins had a long tap root and didn't like being moved around. ........I have a couple I planted this year but are the wrong colour.......would it be OK to move them? ?
My Lupins are in pots so I have no experience of dividing or moving them, as such. I suspect moving them once they have 'finished' - in the Autumn is best but others may have better advice.
Mine have been completely eaten by slugs & snails, mostly since they finished flowering and i stopped religiously de-snailing them every day. I now want to cut them back hard, cos they're quite unsightly. Can i get away with doing that now? I'm in Aberdeen, coldest part of the country, where lupins do well, and although ours have been undisturbed for probably 10 years they still flower reliably.
Hello, I recently bought two lupins in 3 inch pots, they are about 4-5 inches high. Can I plant them out now or would they be best overwintered in the greenhouse. I live on the East Devon coast. Thankyou
Best to keep those tiny lupins in, grow on to big plants, pot up as needed. They stand a better chance from the slugs if they are big plants. First year needs to be protected.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
I have some lupins which were supposedly dwarf, but have grown enormous this year. A fabulous display but blocking out all other plants in the border. Post flowering could I cut the entire plants down to the ground?

Thanks Lyn, I'll do that and plant them out in Spring.
