cutting back clematis

hi i planted 2 new climbing clematis,last summer,one grew well,loads leaves,but no flowers,how low do i cut them back too,ive left the dead stems on,as wanted to wait,till i had advice,thanks guys.

    How and when you cut depends on the variety as they have different flowering times and thus different pruning regimes.
