Can anyone shed some light on what this plant is?

It came from New Covent Garden Market the other day and even the seller had no idea what it is.

I have searched the internet and have come up with nothing so far!

Hope someone out there can help.

I've added a shot of the whole plant and a close up.

Thanks in advance.

  • Pencil cactus (euphorbia tirucalli) ?

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Thanks. Nearly there. It is more "hangy" than the cactus and doesn't seem to have a main stem, just those stems that divide and then divide again. Will continue to hunt along the cactus route. Tastes like wheat grass!

    You've tasted it ????

    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • Thanks Tetley, that looks exactly right! Mystery solved.

I wouldn't have tasted it until I knew what it was
  • I'm fine! I wrote a book on foraging so know a bit about what signs to avoid! It was more of a bite than a taste anyway!

Thanks everyone for solving the mystery though!
