Rose problems

Have had a rose growing nicely in a pot it for 3 years. This year having flowered earlier it is now near it's second flush. I notice that some buds are bent which I did not notice before. Most of the leaves are showing holes which may be as a result of an insect attack. The holes are not round the leaf edge The two problems may be connected. I would be very grateful for any advice.

There are any number of little sap suckers which could have nipped onto your rose buds for a quick slurp. If they are really deformed the flowers will be too. If you have enough buds to spare, just nip off the bent ones and enjoy the others.

The little holes in the leaves could be earwigs, even a lost flea beetle, or a fungus called shot hole. Or something else. Just part of life's rich tapestry.

  • Many thanks for your reply. Pleased to say the rose has continued to flower. I have as suggested, put it down to part of life's rich tapestry
