Ladder for garden wall

Hi. Hoping for some advice. We have a walled garden, the rear wall is 12' high and at the top there's a 6' deep shelf/mezzanine which we'd like to access and make use of.
It's a small garden so building steps might take up too much room, but I'm thinking about a storeable/stackable ladder as a solution. I wondered about a loft ladder (the concrete wall is about a foot deep, so could secure something to this). Otherwise I could just buy a cheap ladder that stacks and store it when it's out of use. Has anyone got any ideas or examples on how they've approached something like this?

Depends how nimble you are Mark - there's been a time when I'd have been happy with a rope ladder, but nowadays I'd like a set of sturdy wooden steps and a hand rail.

Any removable ladder stashed outside may prove useful to thieves for accessing your property. i'd go for a set of permanent steps, well attached to the mezzanine and ground. Paint them, stain them, put pots on one side if wide enough and make it a decorative feature.
