gravel for seedlings

hi what is the best for the seedlings to grow,i have a question,gravel or not,

    Called into the plot today when I was passing as a pick me up just to have a look!

    I have bark chipping on my paths, there were hellebore and lupin seedling germinating as well as some gladioli corms stems peeping through the bark,wet and frosty weather does not seem to have deterred them!

    Roll on spring!

    yes lots new growth on the lupins,i still have so much dead stuff to cut back,gona be hard work in spring,but i can't wait.lol
