Lily, NE England, one foot in the north sea, our weather is dictated by that the coastal weather front nearly always in sight if not directly above, we have our own microcosm as they say. On good days i can see over the Tees valley to the Cleveland hills, today the woods at the bottom of the bank are hidden in mist and the birds are coughing and hiding under the eves of the house. I keep the feeders full and water free from frost, we do what we can.
Thank gawd for that Fairy. The birds have been enjoying some leftover mince pies here. The blackbirds are particular fans. I also found some old raisins at the back of the cupboard and rehydrated them and baked the birds a cake. It was gone within hours.
It's lovely to read on here how other people are looking after their feathered friends and keeping a supply of water available.
Lesley - I've found that the blackies even know when I'm coming home at lunchtime on work days as I put a second lot of food out for them. They were out there half an hour ago... just contemplating and looking hopeful....
They give me a huge amount of pleasure. Raisins are a big favourite here along with the 'tethered' apples on skewers.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Lesley what a wee stunner, obviously enjoying the snow. I wonder what it is that makes them enjoy it. You don't see the sheep or cows playing in snow?!Also what a good idea about old bags of fruit, what was agent that held them altogether?
Frank sorry you have had the mist, we have been fortunate to have some sun today I appreciate every ray at this time of year
Fairy I love the robuns too although I am sure they shout oaths at me. btw our blackies have had red cards shown to them for dive bombing us! Adore them
Weeds are flowers, too, once you get to know them.” A A Milne
Haha Lyn - I'm sure you'll be up to your neck soon and waiting to see the back of it
LilyP - in my dog's case she is just delighted to go out without negotiating puddles and mud. I made a 'normal' sponge for the birds adding all the wee bits around I thought they'd like. It didn't rise much but the birds did.
Fairy, our robin (Rockin'), seems to have found a mate. Two robins in a garden, living peaceably, can't mean anything else

LP - you could have sent me your leftover cake and pudding....

That's a very cute pic Lesley!
Dennis is a real bully - like most of 'em when they have a ladyfriend and their own 'spot'.
He's enjoying the gingerbread house via the blender. Not much of it left - fairylet will have to make a new one for this year.
The house is in the blender...not Dennis....

Mine has a mate too Lesley - she scoffs while Den chases the pretender to his throne

There were several snowmen in gardens on my walk today - some quite impressive ones. Pity I didn't have my camera.

No snow in Lincoln yet , fingers crossed
Heading to bed after a lovely weekend, good food good friends good surroundings. What else do we need? Sleep well.
