What beautiful colours Cloggie - really eyecatching - just what we need on such a dull dreary day here. Thanks for sharing them with us. I especially love the wisteria - we had one until the builders came along to rework the wall & insert a new window. Perhaps your wisteria will have a trunk like this one day!image

Nooooo, GD2, you didn't lose that wisteria due to builders did you?

Oops, I realise I said that it was year 1 to 2 for my wisteria, that's under my management.  It has been there for about 15 years but got cut off at chest height every year by the previous owners so it has mature roots (the wibbly wobbly patio confirms this).  When I moved in I built it a pergola and so this is year 1 into 2 of its liberation.

I'm expecting great things and what an opportunity!  I feel very lucky. image

I used to live near this one and can see that the original planter put it away from the wall

    It has a tree-sized stem.

I am a little worried that mine will mature enough to bother the wall behind it.

Does yours have an effect on the wall/foundations GD2?  From what I've read, the wisteria gives in to the dominance of the concrete/bricks etc.

No Cloggie - our Wisteria was only about 15 years old when we had to cut it down - the one in the picture was much, much older. In fact the building it was growing up against had a date of 1600's on it (can't remember the exact date) and I think the wisteria was holding the building up!

Here's mine this Morning, just getting into its stride on the sunniest bit of the wall - the rest of it will take a week or so to catch up

It's stunning chicky. I don't they're often grown up here - climate's not really right. They look splendid when they have the right conditions. image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Lovely AWB. If you have the room to do it of course!  image

Is all of that (below the trees) nettles?
