Fantasy garden

I think we would definitely have a team of diet coke chaps on hand to cut the lawns, edge the grass, cut the hedges, prune the trees, mulch the borders, paint the sheds and fences and any other jobs requiring a bit of height / muscle / stamina / a high boredom threshold.

But they would be gardening chaps. They would know exactly what to do and when - would never step on a precious plant and would always come and ask if we wanted to do any of those jobs ourselves before starting (quite enjoy doing the grass / tree pruning when I'm in the mood). They would also not require endless cups of tea / plates of biscuits to keep them happy image

Sorry Frank - you snuck in while I was posting. Your garden sounds like nothing short of a miracle - lovely! image

I think I have my fantasy plot, just not the money, time and effort to do everything I want in it.

I'd love a jetty over the lake, but in my fantasy garden, there would be no horse flies, well, just enough for the swallows .

Great thread - this is such a lovely place image

I'd like a magnolia with gorgeous white flowers that are not affected in any way by frost, cold, wind, snow etc. Also a special area for my bonsai trees with exactly the right height benches to display them and the right amount of sun and shade to keep them all looking their best all the year round image

What is so lovely is that occasionally, for all of us I guess, we step into our own garden and have that feeling of utter bliss and contentment, whether or not the garden is as we imagined it in our dreams.  We gardeners are lucky people!  image

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
  • We all have our fantasy gardens though don't we? Or am I the only one who can imagine those wonderful borders, that beautiful grass, all the edges neat, no bald patches (or dog poos!), the trees all perfect and the pots overflowing with wonderful flowers? And it's all going to happen next summer isn't it, and I won't get rained off or run out of time or energy will I? Eternal optimism, but like Liri says just sometimes it all becomes realimage

Can I add a wild flower meadow complete with a resident family of skylarks.

You need a fantasy meadow Marygold. One that grows up tall and straight and never falls over in the wind and rainimage One with soil that bee orchids etc will seed into and moist enough for fritillaries.

We all get to dream, Pat. Better than squabbling.
