pruning wysteria bush

hi guys

I have to prune a wisteria bush for a friend; my question is; is it the same pruning technique as for a normal wisteria? im not sure what type it is, and its a bit overgrown but very precious! I know you prune in January and after flowering in the summer, but I cant see any difference when I look it up on the internet for a bush wisteria.

thanks

Cut back all last years shoots to two buds.,soon as they are starting to grow with this mild weather. That should leave you with a thick main stem and a framework of shoots off it. Bush wisteria is the same as the normal one growing on walls , it is just the training technique.   There are some done  as freestanding shrubs this way at Kew.

  • cheers for that!!
