laying new turf

Hi,

I realise that now is not really the ideal time to be laying new turf but circumstances mean that we have no choice.   I've watched the Gardeners' World video and I'm clear about the techniques involved,   However I'm wondering if I need to take any extra precautions if frost and/or snow are forecast after we have laid the turf?   Would covering it with fleece help?

I'd delay if at at all possible. Laying turf on frozen soil isn't advisable and watering in frozen or very cold conditions will only lead to the roots freezing and or rotting.

I agree totally with Tetley. Laying turf now will be a total waste of time money and energy. Sorry image

Anne - I agree totally with the others - this isn't the time. You say due to circumstances you have no choice. Can you give us more info and we can perhaps offer other alternatives?  Is it because  you have to sell the property for instance?

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
