Gardening courses (and garden visits)

Hello,

Does anyone know of organizations that offer gardening courses over several days?
I would be coming from Italy to take such a course (and visits some of your beautiful gardens) but the only things I can find online are 1-day courses...
Possibly on roses or herbaceous perennials, but it doesn't have to be.
Also, any suggestion on serious tour operators/associations that organize good garden visits would also be very helpful!

Thank you in advance!

Anna

  • try your local college, they do have smaller courses for a few weeks or so,or look round your local garden centers, they sometimes have guest speakers, talking on all different subjects, they will be starting up ,no doubt in the spring,.but there are excellent gardeners on here, with great advice.verdun, has been very helpfull with advice for me,when i asked.image

Thanks Caroline... The problem is that I live in Italy, not in UK (I had to use a UK postal code, because it wouldn't let me post the message otherwise)... that's why some advice and names from "natives" would be of great help image
Google is not always good enough to provide this type of special information. I found many courses... but all are half-day or 1-day courses, whereas I would come from Italy for one or two weeks.

Thank you! Yes, the courses at West Dean College looked very nice... it is good to hear that they are worth it.

Unfortunately, these are mainly 1-day courses (the only 3-day course is already fully booked)... but I'll write to them, just in case...

    Thanks...!

    Hi Anna

    Another suggestion for you

    https://www.hfholidays.co.uk

Go to - Activities - then - Touring & Cultural - then - Garden Tours

You'll see a list of holidays of varying length & cost featuring guided tours of gardens in both the UK & other countries.

HF holidays in the UK are usually based in country houses in nice parts of the country and their holidays are particularly suitable for the single holiday maker. If you are travelling with somebody who is less interested in gardening they usually have other holidays running in the same establishment at the same time offering a different activity (perhaps walking or photography).

This means you and your companion spend free time and meals together but do different activities during the day.

These are not educational courses as such - but they are a good way of visiting several gardens in a chosen locality with like minded people and a knowledgable guide.

Whatever you do - enjoy image

There are two-day courses at The Eden Project - fascinating place and lots of lovely gardens to visit in Cornwall as well
