Busy, busy, busy

The work doesn't seem to be ending this year. I'm still mowing my grass which is growing like er.....grass. I guess I should think myself fortunate that it is not all under water image

We've been out there all day weeding, pruning back dead branches, sweeping up leaves and planting pots.

The enormous bay tree has been dug out finally so we had to go out and repair the damage that caused, it's a relief to get rid of it though, three big trees are quite enough for one average size garden.

I have lots of evergreens I bought for the front garden which isn't ready yet so I'm going to have to plant them temporarily in the back. Somebody on here suggested planting them over winter in their pots ready to put out front in spring which seems like a fine idea.

Pauline I don't blame you, I think I would have had to do the same think, dogs like that shouldn't be left running loose, they are invading your privacy, I don't know if you have children or grandchildren but it sounds like your neighbour is not bothered, do they know there's a hole in your fence?

Pauline those dogs are out of control and as such your neighbour is committing an offence. I'd approach your local council dog warden to see if he can do something about it.

Lou I've been weeding all day as well. All the perennial weeds are coming out like a dream. Hopefully I'll have less to weed this spring and yes planting the pots works well over winter. I do it all the time.

Pauline, OMG! That is radiculous image, I'm in shock, that's awful, I'm so sorry you have to suffer like this, I would be so scared of coming out of my house, can you have a word with the police ?

I do hope it is resolved sooner rather than later Pauline for your safety. Have the dogs ever gone for you?, I know it's not the point because they shouldn't even be on your premises image

Why the hell do people have dogs if they can't look after them???

    Here here Lou12

  • Pauline, owners can be fined up to £2000 if their dogs are out of control. They don't have to bite anyone, if they are unsupervised they are not in control. Do you know whose responsibility it is to repair the fence? Are the front and back fences high enough to prevent them jumping over?

Poor dogs.  If they're not being walked they must be desperate to get outside. It's so cruel. I wish people wouldn't have animals if they can't or won't look after them properly.

Just picked up this thread after reading message from Lou12 (private message sent) I have 2 dogs, a few years back we lived next door to a couple in their 30s, he worked away a lot had a dog who was a big old friendly softy (lab/Sheoherd 10 stone) then girlfriend got a 2 year old Shepherd who had spent his life chained up, she worked pt as a cleaner, but had horses got up at 5 to go and see to them, I worked full-time nights, the dogs often barked 20 hours a day, it rattled the windows!  I tried speaking nicely to her, asked if she could possibly put the dogs in the back, so they wouldnt bark at everyone and everything.   In desparation getting NO sleep night or day, I went to Public health, the young woman suggested I offered to walk the dogs, I had 2 of my own, 3 of my 4 kids still at home (one a baby) 5 feet, tall, the reason my strapping 6 foot neighbour didnt walk them she couldnt managed them (and was bone idle) her Mum came round lunch time let them out just to cock their legs and back in, they were NEVER walked.  The younger dog was nasty.  We just happened to have an RCPCS home check at this time as our dog was 16 plus, they said and I quote DOGS DO NOT NEED WALKING, they were happy to house dogs in flats.  The bigger dog next door used to came and poo in our garden.  My neighbour obviously knew it was me who complained, andf started putting the (very large) dog poo on my garden furniture, my Husband was prepared to think it got there by accident, BUT we both had a friend (my Husband worked with her) I also become friends with her Mum, she kept her horses at the same stable as my neighbour, she was evn smaller than me, you would think wouldnt say boo to a goose, well, bumped into her shopping one day, she said she had fallen out with my neighbour because of ME, went on to tell me she saw her putting the poo on my furniture and told her if she ever caught her doing it again, the next lump would go in her face!  The council told me, it was our responsibility to prevent the dogs from entering our garden not the other way round.
