My lawn or should I say swamp whats left of it either bounces back or I was seriously thinking of giveing it back to nature. Where I live, was or is marsh lands and I don't think for one minute building houses on it makes it change the fact.Last summer we dug drainage and dug chanels which we filled with sand and ballace, made boarders wider and the worst part which you couldn't walk on without sinking up past the ankles in places we dug a soakeaway and pebbled over it, even then for weeks when walking on this area the ground moved like walking on foam.It has settled now but what will happen to what grassed areas left this year I don't know.Whilst away at christmas we went to Titchwell RSPB and walking around on the upraised paths I said thats what we'll do the length of the garden this year if we can't walk on the lawn thats left one long upraised path down the garden to my greenhouse would be great, the frogs,birds and hedgehogs would love it my other half was'nt to happy about the idea but whats the other option if there is one out there somewhere. Anyway Pippa on a lighter note my daffs have been showing on the front boarder for about 10 days out the back in the marshlands I don't know, I'll see them when they flower from the patio.Spring wo'nt be long now, look out for the frogs and I've already seen wood pigoens pairing up thats a sure sighn,I think.

The problem with digging up the grass and converting it to veg is that a) I alreday have plenty of veg space (lucky me, I know, but it has always been number one here) and b) a veg plot does not make a good site for either a netball practice area or a swing !!!
