Most asters get mildew in the summer....that's what you have rosy toes.
Its dryness....??ou need to,keep,moisture levels up or grow them in shadier damper spot.
If you like asters grow Frikartii Monch. It's doesnt get mildew

Rosytoes is it an aster or acer we are talking about?
It's a Japanese Aser,Paula do you have any idea what is wrong with it.
My Husband says it is creamy gel like.
Scale insect tends to look like marshmallow fluff with a brown top, have you tried googling it?
