  • How often should we turn compost in the winter?
  • Quite correct, Jo47. *Though there were once rumoured to be 'gold-bearing' veins closer (to me) in mid and NW coastal Pembrokeshire..... I'm ever hopeful when I get out on foot along the Pembs Coast Path National Trail!! Just remember that "all that glistens is not gold"...*[secret locations know to only a very few, extremely careful 'close' people].

  • Why is it that so many peat free composts only tell us what they DON'T contain.

    I don't buy peat free compost. There, I've said it. Like others have said - full of c***.

    Plastic, metal and all manner of other junk. A large stone - the size of my hand - was in one bag. image

    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....



    I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

    I was once told there are peat reserves literally miles deep in Russia, however, it's covered by tundra.

    I will stop buying peat fo use in the garden when the Irish stop burning 94%of what they dig out, in power stations.
