Apple Trees losing thier leaves

I have several apple trees around my garden.

I've just noticed that several of them are losing a significant portion of their leaves.

Could this be a symptom of the drought ?

Yes, a lot of deciduous trees will shed leaves to reduce transpiration during drought.

I would give them a good drink, especially if they are newly planted.
