Raw Manure

I'd stick it in the compost bins. Being enclosed will keep the heat / decomposition going. In the sacks you'll have hot bit, cooler bits, dryer and wetter bits. I'd mix it all together

That'll be brilliant jo. It should be ready to use very quickly once you get it in with some dry stuff  image

  • Give it a stir every couple of weeks, turn it properly in April and my guess is it'll be ready to mulch your beds with by late summer if not earlier.  Fresh manure will really get it working. image

Six months or so - pretty much as Dove says. I put some fresh horse stuff down on the new borders I created during late summer year before last, covered it in plastic, then a covering of bark ( for aesthetic reasons ) and then left the area over winter. In spring it was already breaking down well.  I planted the borders up during that summer.

I also mixed some in the compost bin using about the same amount of dry stuff, adding the usual mix of veg peelings and soft plant material. It all broke down over the winter and spring. image
