Which witch hazel?
in Plants
I'm thinking of getting another witch hazel. I already have an established one that has yellow flowers and lovely autumn colours but the fragrance is nothing special. So the new one has to have a noticeable fragrance. Any recommendations?

I have Pallida too - lovely big flowers, and good scent. I also love Diana - only faint scent, but red flowers and the leaves go brilliant scarlet in autumn - really special
As scent is a rather personal thing I would be tempted to do a bit of sample sniffing, either at a good nursery with a range for sale, or at a winter garden open to the public. My father has a witch hazel that he raves over but I can hardly smell and yet some others I have tried have been sublime.
Good luck.
I have Orange Peel which is fragrant and, as the name suggests, has orange flowers. It has lovely autumn colour and a good shape. Hardier for me than Diana which died.
Have a look at this article - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/gardening/howtogrow/9024795/The-allure-of-witch-hazel-flowers.html
Thank you for the suggestions. I think some research outings might be on the cards!
