What's this tree?
in Plants
Hi, can anyone tell me what this tree is? Is it a lime? The leaf edges (double toothed?) don't match any of the lime leaf pictures I can find, although the shape's similar. It also looks like a hazel tree leaf, but the tree's quite big with a single trunk and with a pointy shape so I don't think it can be hazel?

Sorry - I am a complete novice when it comes to trees so this is probably obvious to everyone! Thanks for any help!

A bit of a guess but maybe a Turkish hazel, Corylus colurna. Maybe
English elm? Bark is wrong for hazel which is usually smooth.
I'd have a look at Wikipedia's photos of the Turkish hazel and compare with yours. It does have a very unusual bark for a hazel which, I agree, is usually smooth.
Brill, thank you - I'm sure it is a Turkish hazel - same leaves and they do have the pointy tree shape and rough bark:

Thank you - that's cleared that up!
